I've been so lucky in my career thus far, that I've been able to work with so many of the  people I grew up watching on TV.   Star Trek, Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley, Gilligan's Island, Leave It To Beaver, Get Smart and Chips to just name a few.  So Fun, and without exception(okay there was one) everybody was cool.

My Work.

Leatherheads was a dream job in many ways. As football was just one part of the movie, as the other was about Rene Zellweger and the news room.... we only worked half the time!!! Because we were on location the whole time, we the players spent all of it together... breakfast, lunch & dinner. Throwing darts, Bowling, Movies, etc.  Oh, and we partied... a lot!!! Quick side notes... Rene Zellweger is super cool. She'd hang out with us on occasion... just one of the boys. Also, we shot in and around the Carolina's. Both beautiful, and made a lot of friends that I still keep in touch with.

Back to the Beach was just my 2nd audition.  I had read for the part of the best friend " Moutain", and got the part. Well, a week or so later go by and I got a call from the production. They told me they were having a hard time finding someone to play the lead.... would I mind reading for "Michael".  I got the part!!!  Quick side notes.... When Lori's fiance would visit the set, and they were in her trailer together.  I would, pretending Not to know he was there, knock on her door and say..... "Lori, you wanna rehearse our make out scene?"  Also, know that my skin was on the paler side, so that great tan I had was all makeup. Head to toe, AND I had to shave my chest all the time!!!  Btw, using "Nair" was a nightmare.

Hard Knocks.... My first job, and my first audition.
I had just moved to LA , and a couple I was friends with let me sleep on their couch.  One night they were taking me to my first "Hollywood Party" somewhere in West Hollywood.  My friends who drove wanted to leave because it was 9:30pm and it was dead.  In NY, where I lived for 4yrs, parties don't start til 11pm or later. So, I was gonna stay, and told them not to worry, I'd find a ride home, no problem. The party didn't happen, and I didn't find a ride home.   Knowing the walk back to Silver Lake was gonna take a couple of hours, I headed out.  After about 10/15min, I walked past The Improv Comedy Club. This was great!!! See, because I used to be a doorman at a comedy club in NYC called Catch a Rising Star. I walked into the club, and the first person I saw was a writer/comedian friend of mine. He says to me... Tom, you're an actor right? I said yes, and then he tells this story..... You know Bill Maher, Right?  Well, I'm a writer on his new show, and we're having a hard time finding his co-star.  He plays the smart longhaired detective who hates violence, and you'd play the dumb shorthaired guy who loves violence.... you'd be perfect!! LOL.  At first I told him no, as I'd never been on TV before, and didn't want to embarrass him.  A few days later I was taking the bus to Paramount Studios.  As I was waiting to audition, I actually fell asleep on the bench outside.  Heading back to the bus after my audition, I thought it had went pretty well, the casting director came running after me. Hey, she said...They wanna sign you to test-option deal. I said... a what?  She looked at me funny, and then asked.... Who's your agent? I told her I didn't have one. She started laughing.
The Little Vampire I already had a crush on Alice Krige before we started the movie. So, when we met her in the hotel lobby, and as I remember it.... I babbled on and on like a little puppy dog. She was very gracious.  When she left, I turned to Tracey, and said.... How much of an idiot was I?   I think she thought you were, Tracey paused... charming.  Uh, huh.  ;)   Quick side notes.... When Jonathan Lipnicki, the star of the movie, and I shot the golf course scene together.... He was shaking and his lips were blue. You see, they had already filmed the master shot, overhead from a helicopter on a previous day when it was very warm.  Using doubles to pose as us, and dressed them in short sleeves.  It was a cool looking, but very expensive shot, and we had to match it.  Jonathan and I had good chemistry, so we made it work, and I love that scene, but we were freezing!!!  Also, we were based in Edinbrugh, Scotland and many of the streets are cobble stone.  So, you can imagine Tracey pushing our 5mo. old in a stroller for a whole summer.

Angel  I just love this photo of all of us.... the guest stars of the episode "Are You Now Or Have You Ever Been" from Season 2.   Rumor has it this was Joss Whedon's(show's creator) favorite episode!!!
